Campaign for clean riverbank

GUWAHATI, Dec 14 - An initiative called Brahmaputra Campaign is under way for sensitising the masses on a clean and creative riverbank environment, by volunteers� association Jeevan Initiative.

As part of the campaign, various competitions are being organised for the people of Assam. Entries for photography, video, poster design, sculpture, street-play on the theme of the Brahmaputra and the riverbank may be submitted at Basic Plus Book Store, Opposite New Arts Building, Cotton University by December 27, a press release said.

Besides dance based on the Brahmaputra or its tributaries, instrumental music, folk song, mono and duet acting, unplugged music competitions will be held at the 7th Jeevan Kite & River Festival from January 4 to 8 on the riverside behind Sonaram Field, Guwahati. There will also be an open talent box for showcasing any other talent. Most contests are open for all, while a few have a separate section for kids up to Class VIII.

For the final State-level competitions of art and quiz, four zonal qualifying contests are being organised at Bajali College on December 23, Sonari College on December 24, Nagaon College on December 28, and Guwahati on January 5.
