Call to stop killings in name of witch-hunting

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 24 The North East Rising and Arohan have submitted a memorandum to Governor JB Patnaik seeking his intervention in the unabated killing of innocents under the garb of witch-hunting.

The seven-point memorandum, sent through the deputy commissioners of the four Bodoland Territorial Administrative Districts Baksa, Udalguri, Chirang and Kokrajhar also called for protecting forests and wildlife, resolving the tribal and ethnic issues, bringing militant outfits to the negotiating table, checking encroachment on the States border land, and preservation of the historical sites and monuments of the State. The NGOs also organised a public rally on October 22 to create awareness on the issues, a press release said.
