Call to maintain expenditure registers

By CORRESPONDENT

JALUKBARI, April 9 - Expenditure Observer for Kamrup Election District, N Balram has urged all the contesting candidates of Boko, Chaygaon, Palashbari and Hajo LACs to maintain expenditure registers and record all expenses till the date of declaration of the results.

Balram also insisted on the truthful declaration of all the expenses by the candidates incurred in the election that should not exceed Rs 28 lakh.

It may be noted that out of 32 contesting candidates in Kamrup Election District, notices had been served to 31 candidates and FIR had been lodged against two candidates for violation of expenditure-related rules. One candidate has not submitted accounts of expenditure for three consecutive stipulated dates and the case will be referred to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for necessary action.

Meanwhile, for the smooth conduct of the ensuing Assembly election in Kamrup Election District, eighteen polling parties comprising presiding officers, polling officers and police personnel today left for their designated polling stations after receiving the EVMs and other poll-related documents from the distribution centre set up at the Rajib Gandhi Indoor Stadium at Amingaon.

Among the eighteen polling stations, eight are in Boko LAC and ten are in Chaygaon LAC under Kamrup Election District. This advance movement of polling parties has been done as these polling stations are located in comparatively remote areas.
