By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 17 - The Kamrup Metro district administration has asked the railway authorities to take immediate action to fill up a patch along the Byrnihat-Tetelia railway line, which is under construction, so that public safety is not endangered.

In an official statement, the district administration said that there is an unfilled patch measuring approximately 120 feet X 80 feet in Kamalajari area of the Byrnihat-Tetelia railway line.

As 80 per cent of the field work has been completed the local inhabitants and cattle are temporarily utilising the filled-up railway line for local movement as the railway track has not been laid yet. But the unfilled patch is posing a huge threat to public safety and to the free movement of cattle as at any point of time anybody may fall into the pit and lose ones life, said the statement.

The railway authorities have been asked to fill up the unfilled pit immediately.

The Circle Officer of Sonapur revenue circle has been directed to coordinate and supervise the earth filling work by the railways and report compliance.
