Call to end injustice on Bengali Hindus

By Correspondent

MORIGAON, Oct 7 - The members of All Assam Bengali Yuba Chatra Federation (AABYCF) have expressed serious concern over the atrocities meted out on the Hindu Bengalis, tagging them as foreigners residing in the State.

Addressing a rally organised by the AABYCF, leaders of the organisation alleged that the Bengali Hindus residing in Assam for decades were harassed by the police. They were declared as D voters and even some of them were arrested and kept in detention camps.

The open meeting, held at Morigaon recently, was presided over by Ajoy Bhushan Sarkar, president of AABYCFs Morigaon unit. Speaking on the occasion, Sukumar Biswas, president of the organisation, said that the Bengali Hindus in undivided India had been victimised by the conspiracy of the then political leadership of India.

He demanded the release of all Hindu Bengali citizens of Assam from detention camps and all Bengali D voters must be included in voters list.

Addressing the gathering, Chitta Paul, president of Assam-Bengali Yuba Parishad, criticised the KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi for his anti-Bengali role and said that the Bengali citizens of Assam must protest Akhils remark that near about 20 lakh Hindu Bengalis are illegally residing in the State.

The AABYCF set the deadline before the Government to fulfil their demand before November 30. Else AABYCF will carry out agitation stern programmes.
