Call to boost State economy through agriculture

NALBARI, Aug 28 - Under the Prime Mnister�s Sankalp Se Siddhi � the new India Manthan programme, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nalbari organised a farmers� meet at Nalbari Natya Mandir on Sunday.

The programme was organised with the aim to double the income of farmers within 2022. The meeting was inaugurated by Rajen Gohain, Union Minister of State for Railways. At the beginning, the meet took an oath to increase the income of farmers responding to the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing the meeting, Gohain said that economic development through agriculture is the only way to remove the State�s economic backwardness.

Gohain requested the farmers to take the benefit of Prime Minister�s Fasal Bima Yojana. He also stressed on the need of creating work culture among the people. The minister distributed soil health cards to three farmers of the district.

A progressive farmer, Pankaj Kalita was also felicitated in the programme. A book on fish cultivation written by Dr Mridul Deka and Sonmaina Bhuyan was released by the minister. The meeting was addressed, among others, by Dr Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah, Vice- Chancellor of AAU, Jorhat, AK Tripathi and Kanhaiya Choudhury, both directors, Ministry of Agriculture, New Delhi, Ananta Lal Gyani, Deputy Commissioner, Nalbari and Dr Mridul Deka, programme coordnator.
