GUWAHATI, Aug 17 - Urging all concerned including the common people and the State government to be on guard against attempts by vested interest circles to create trouble in the aftermath of the final draft NRC publication, the All Assam Goria Parishad today said that no Indian citizen should be apprehensive about the NRC updating exercise being conducted under the Supreme Courts direct supervision.

It may be so that some Indian citizens names have been left out due to various reasons, but they need not panic and they should be provided legal assistance. Similarly, it must be ensured that no illegal Bangladeshis irrespective of their religion can enter their names in the NRC, it said in a statement. The Parishad said that a lot of politics was being practised on the issue and that the people must exercise restraint to avert any untoward incident.
