Call for uplift of Namasudra community

KARIMGANJ, Feb 16 � The Border Area Development Minister Girindra Mallik has stressed on the need to uplift the Namasudra community while addressing a meeting held at Gajalghat in Dholai, which was organised to celebrate the death anniversary of Kushiram Namasudra and Bhim Rao Ambedkar on February 10.

He said that BR Ambedkar and Kushiram Namasudra dedicated their lives for the development of this community. As a son of this community, he always tried his best to uplift the Namasudra community. He also mentioned that as a minister, his first priority was to transform Assam into a developed State.

Due to lack of proper education, the Namasudra community was far behind other communities, he said. So, it is our bounden duty to spread education among the people of this community, he observed.

The meeting was presided over by Dwarika Mohan Roy.
