Call for implementation of Anti-Tobacco Act

TINSUKIA, July 25 � The central committee of the Paribesh Suraksha Samiti on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner, Tinsukia, requesting the Government to take necessary steps in implementing the Anti-Tobacco Act at an early date to save lives and the future of the people of the State.

Welcoming the Assam Health Act (Prohibition of Manufacturing, Trade, Advertisement, Storage, Distribution, Sale, Consumption of Zarda, Gutkha, Pan Masala, etc., Containing Tobacco), the Paribesh Suraksha Samiti demanded an additional Act to ban alcoholic drinks, cigarette smoking and use of plastic bags. Rituraj Baruah, secretary, Paribesh Suraksha Samiti, stated this in a release.
