IMPHAL, Nov 15 - Demanding justice and immediate arrest of the killers, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) called for a 48-hour general strike in Manipur on Monday against the brutal killing of Md Hashmad Ali.

The decision to call the general strike was taken during a public meeting held at Keirao Mating Youth Club in Imphal East district on Sunday. The meeting also condemned the State Governments alleged failure to arrest any suspect involved in the killing of head master Md Hashmad Ali by a group of people on November 2 this year.

It also said that the JAC had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and SP of Imphal East district to do justice. But so far, there is no positive response from the concerned parties, the meeting deliberated.

In a press statement, the JAC has asked all the civil society organisations and individuals to support the JAC's movement for justice.
