SHILLONG, March 21 Congress MLA, Founder Strong Cajee yesterday apologised in the Assembly for assaulting a photo journalist on Monday, terming the incident as unfortunate and added that he shouldnt have done it.

Immediately after the question hour, Cajee apologised and said: I am sorry for what has happened, it would never happen ever.

Cajee assaulted Walton Lytan, a photo journalist associated with UB photo agency, in the Assembly premises for taking a picture of the legislator napping during the ongoing budget session of the Assembly. The snap was carried in the local media here.

Cajee said in his defence that nobody can prove that he was sleeping as he was pondering over the constructive discussions that was going on, with his eyes shut.

Leader of the Opposition, Conrad Sangma said that the incident was the saddest thing that ever happened in the Meghalaya Assembly.
