Cachar District Library to get facelift soon

SILCHAR, June 29 - The Cachar District Library at Silchar is all set for a major facelift soon.

According to a release issued by the Information and Public Relation office here, an estimated amount of Rs 50 lakh will be used to renovate the auditorium and to improve facilities to give a boost to the reading habit.

Further, the release said that Deputy Commissioner S Vishwanathan held a meeting with members of the District Library Development Committee at his conference hall on Tuesday to discuss measures to improve the overall condition of the library. The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the need to give the library an overall facelift developing the infrastructure including development of ceiling, better lights and sound arrangement, better facilities at the green room, construction of boundary walls, installing gates etc.

Also, a fund raising committee has been formed to arrange necessary funds for the renovation work of the library. Besides, the members laid emphasis in keeping sufficient quantity of books in the library and matters regarding appointment of officials in the library were also discussed, the release stated.
