CAB should be thrown into dustbin: CPI

By Newmai News

IMPHAL, Feb 3 - Reiterating CPIs firm stand against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB), CPI national secretary, Vinay Biswam has said that it should be thrown into the dustbin.

The sitting Rajya Sabha member is taking part in the campaign against the Bill being spearheaded by nine political parties CPI, CPI (M), AAP, NCP, RSP, PRJA, JDS, BSP and FB. He had taken part in a protest rally in Imphal organised by the nine parties on Saturday.

On Sunday, he addressed a news conference where Biswam reiterated CPIs firm stand against the Bill. He said, The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is anti-people, it is draconian in nature, it should be thrown into the dustbin. He also said that his party, CPI, was well aware of the sentiments of the people of Manipur and North-eastern States. CPI will take an active role in preventing passing of the Bill and lobbying other like-minded parties to defeat the Bill if introduced in the Rajya Sabha, he added.

Reiterating that the CAB is anti-national and unconstitutional, the Communist leader alleged that the Bill is not meant for the Indian citizens but to divide the people of the country on communal lines.
