Businessman�s son from Jagun kidnapped

DIGBOI Dec 16 - Despite huge uproar and sensation against the ULFA following the killing of a father and his son recently at Hunjan in Bordumsa in Tinsukia district, the act of another kidnapping of the son of a businessman at Jagun in Tinsukia district along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border�on Friday�afternoon has caused sensation among the people in the locality.

According to an eye witness, a group of five miscreants kidnapped one Arnab Phukon, son of Dilip Phukon from the work site where the extraction of boulders was being carried out.

However, sources added that the jurisdiction of the incident falls under the old Khamdu village under the Jairampur police station in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.�

The act of kidnapping has raised eyebrows of the local police and other security agencies after several violent incidents, including firing at the Sree Krishna TE in Digboi and the MKB TE in Bordumsa, followed by the killing of father-son duo at Hunjan in Bordumsa.�

Meanwhile, an FIR was lodged at the Jairampur police station here this morning and an intense search operation in the entire vulnerable belts across the Assam-Arunachal border has been launched by the personnel of Assam Police, 13 Assam Rifles, Jairampur and Arunachal Police to trace and rescue the person.
