Bus carrying devotees attacked in Arunachal

DIGBOI, March 17 - In an incident that occurred at a place under Wakro Police Station in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday evening, the driver and handyman of a pilgrim bus on its return journey were attacked by two motor-cycle borne unidentified miscreants.

According to official inputs from Arunachal Police, two suspected drug addicts of the locality pelted stones at an ASTC bus which was heading back to Dhemaji in Assam after a visit to Parasuram Kund in Lohit district. The driver and handyman of the bus sustained injuries while the devotees, mostly aged were unhurt.

The wind shield and windows of the bus were damaged during the attack, informed police.

The incident took place along the NH 15 in the Turung Reserve Forest between Chongkham and Wakro Police station.

The injured were treated and following a complaint lodged at Wakro Police Station, the bus along with the devotees returned to their destination the same night.

Earlier, on January 13, a similar incident took place under Mahadevpur Police Station in Namsai district of Arunachal wherein a pilgrim bus from Margherita carrying 65 Parasuram Kund-bound devotees were attacked . The bus was attacked by a group of unidentified masked miscreants emerging out of the bushes along the Mahadevpur Road pelting stones on the vehicle causing minor damages. The incident was reported at the nearby Bordumsa Police station in Changlang district.
