Buffalo fight at Ahatguri

JAGIROAD, Jan 19 � Buffalo fight has been an interesting game in undivided Nagaon district on the occasion of Magh Bihu since a long time. At Ahatguri in Morigaon district, the birth place of Lakshminath Bezbaroa the buffalo-fight began in 1972.

The 39th edition of the famous buffalo-fight was organised on January 16 at Bezboruah Khel-Pathar at Ahatguri by the Ahatguri Anchalik Buffalo-fighting Samiti in the presence of 10,000 people from Nagaon and Morigaon districts.

Former AGP Minister Bubul Das inaugurated the competition in which a total of 72 buffaloes took part.

Atul Saikia of Sidhabari and Mutharam Ingti of Torabori received �Gerella Das� and �Sishuram Hazarika� memorial trophies with cash awards for their buffaloes while Dipak Das of Joysree and Huwang Medhi of Sagarghat won the Mohansing Pator memorial trophy and cash for their buffaloes being adjudged as second best. Birsing Pator of Banpara and Dhirman Nath of Santipur received Ratneswar Deka memorial trophy with cash for their buffaloes coming third.
