Bud emerge champs in GSA cricket

GUWAHATI, March 22 - All rounder Sahil Jain contributed substantially for Bud Cricket Club in emerging champions of the GSA A Division Cricket League for the Indra Prova Dutta trophy.

In the closely fought final of the championship at the IIT ground in North Guwahati today, Bud CC posted a two-wicket victory against Gauhati Town Club (GTC).

Opting to bat first, GTC could only manage 144 runs before being all out in 34.5 overs of the 35-over encounter. Veteran Nitin Das was the top scorer with 38 while Ranjit Changmai added 34. Simanta Neogi (20) was their other notable contributor. For Bud, Anup Ghosh and Sahil Jain scalped four wickets each.

The match extended to the final over as Bud batsmen needed 34.1 overs to cross the opponents� total losing eight wickets.

The match was officiated by Diganta Barman and Rajib Kalita as umpires while Soman Mohari maintained the scoreboard.
