MANGALDAI, March 11 - Riding on a quick fire unbeaten knock of 84 off just 39 balls from Vinayak Shukla, Bud Cricket Club thrashed host 22 Yards Glory by nine wickets to move into the semifinals of the Jagat Ch Das Memorial 2nd T-20 Challenge Trophy here today.
In the second quarterfinal played at the Mangaldai Stadium batting first 22 Yards scored 131 for 6 in 20 overs. Anup Ghosh top scored with 43 while Kaushik Oja contributed 23 runs. Debraj Shrestha (2/21) and Amit Bharti (2/33) bowled well for Bud.
In reply Bud chased down the target losing only one wicket.
In the other match of the day, Royals Club inflicted a five-wicket defeat on defending champion Supernova. In the low scoring match batting first Supernova were bowled out for a paltry 99. Sarupam Purkayastha (26) was the only notable scorer for Supernova. Akash Sengupta (3/16), Kishan Laishram (3/19) and Bikash Singh (2/16) were all among wickets for Royals. In reply Royals reached the target with three balls to spare losing five wickets. Biplab Saikia (23) and Sib Sankar Roy (22) were the major contributors for the winners.
