BTC floor test today

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 23 - Newly elected Chief Executive Member of the BTC Pramod Boro will face a floor test tomorrow as per the directive of Gauhati High Court.

Boro took oath as the CEM of the BTC after his party, United Peoples Party Liberal, formed an alliance with the BJP and Gana Suraksha Party. However, the BPF had claimed that being the single largest party, it should have been given the first chance to form the Council.

The UPPL won 12 seats in the 40-member Council, while the BJP won nine and GSP won one seat. The BPF emerged as the single largest party winning 17 seats.

However, the strength of the alliance increased after one BPF member and the lone Congress member joined the BJP.

Official sources said that the Governor has summoned the first sitting of the Council at 10 am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Pramod Boro said that he is confident of winning the trust vote as the ruling alliance now has 24 members in the 40-member Council.
