ITANAGAR, June 14 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) BD Mishra has urged the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to accelerate the optical fibre cable laying work to provide Internet connectivity in the border areas of the State.

The Governor, while reviewing the States telecommunication and Internet connectivity in a meeting at Raj Bhavan here recently, asked the State Governments IT Secretary Abhyankar Ameya and BSNL General Manager Arung Siram to expedite the optical fibre cable laying and other measures to provide Internet connectivity in the State, including border areas such as Sarli, Taksing, Tato, Yingkiong, Hawai, Hayuliang, Walong and Vijoynagar.

While observing that many parts of the State lack basic online connectivity, which is hampering (implementation of) numerous people-oriented programmes and projects, the Governor asked the officers of IT Department, BSNL and National Informatics Centre to work in tandem to meet this pressing communication need of the people.

He also said that under e-governance, every project or programme has to be geo-tagged, and progress and feedback of works have to be updated online on real-time basis.

Earlier, the IT Secretary and the BSNL GM briefed the Governor about the projects taken up to provide telecommunication and internet connectivity in the State.
