NILAMBAZAR, Oct 10 - A constable Shiv Yogi Pandey of Lakhibazar BOP of 7 Bn BSF killed head constable, Ashok Kumar Kangaria, and seriously injured another head constable AR Pal afer getting into an argument with them last night. The accused was arrested from Karimganj town at 6.30 am today.
According to sources, constable Pandey was on duty when at around 9:15 pm he entered into an argument with the two head constables of his company. He then opened fire with his Insas rifle and shot 9 rounds hitting head constable Ashok Kumar Kangaria who died on the spot and head constable AR Pal who was seriously injured. The injured head constable has been referred to the GMCH.
Elaborate cordon and search operation was immediately enforced by the BSF along with second line of defence parties and defence forces. The accused had fled with his Insas and two- loaded magazines with 40 rounds of live ammunition and a wireless set, following which he was arrested this morning.
