British Council to show Hamlet on Net

GUWAHATI, Oct 14 - Theatre lovers with access to internet can watch the presentation of Hamlet by the world renowned Globe Theatre on October 18.

The British Council for the first time is bringing to India Globe Theatre�s Hamlet, acknowledged as Shakespeare�s greatest play, encompassing political intrigue, sexual obsession, philosophical reflection and violent action, tragic depth and wild humour.

Directed by Dominic Dromgoole and Bill Buckhurst, Hamlet is described as an unprecedented theatrical adventure. This production is a young, fresh version of Shakespeare�s classic tragedy of deferred revenge.

Rob Lynes, Country Director, British Council, India, said, �We are excited to partner with the Globe Theatre for the first time in India. It is one of the most renowned theatre companies in the world. The play will be web-cast nationally, which is a first in itself. The performance on October 18 will take place at Ranga Shankara Theatre in Bengaluru and the British Council will livestream the performance.
