GUWAHATI, Oct 14 - Theatre lovers with access to internet can watch the presentation of Hamlet by the world renowned Globe Theatre on October 18.

The British Council for the first time is bringing to India Globe Theatres Hamlet, acknowledged as Shakespeares greatest play, encompassing political intrigue, sexual obsession, philosophical reflection and violent action, tragic depth and wild humour.

Directed by Dominic Dromgoole and Bill Buckhurst, Hamlet is described as an unprecedented theatrical adventure. This production is a young, fresh version of Shakespeares classic tragedy of deferred revenge.

Rob Lynes, Country Director, British Council, India, said, We are excited to partner with the Globe Theatre for the first time in India. It is one of the most renowned theatre companies in the world. The play will be web-cast nationally, which is a first in itself. Cultural relations are pivotal to our work in India and this is another important step towards nurturing collaborations between UK and India. I am sure audiences across India will thoroughly enjoy this unique viewing experience.

The performance on October 18 will take place at Ranga Shankara Theatre in Bengaluru and the British Council will livestream the performance. Anyone anywhere in India with internet access, on any device (laptop/mobile etc.,) will be able to watch this full performance at http://blog.britishcouncil.org.in/hamlet-world-tour/.
