By Correspondent

UDALGURI, Jan 1 - Brisk preparations are under way for holding the 7th Bhairabkunda Tourism Festival with decorations at the festival site.

Cabinet Minister Rihon Daimari and president of the tourism festival management committee informed this today at Bhairabkunda Tourism Centre at a press meet convened by him.

Divulging details of the festival agenda, Daimari informed that the committee is trying to add some uniqueness to the festival with the introduction of elephant safari, jeep safari, night stay for outsiders in the hills and riverbeds with adequate security provision in the makeshift tents, and above all, there will be chopper safari for those interested, besides river rafting. He also said that ethnic food festival with cooking competition on ethnic food from nearby Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh will be held.

Further, there will be a State-level bodybuilding competition followed by fashion show, kabbadi and inter-club volleyball competition, seminar on deforestation and man-elephant conflict in the region. The cultural nites will begin from January 8 to 12, where local artistes and invited celebrity singers from Assam will enthral the public.

It may be pertinent to mention here that these days Bhairabkunda has been thronged by picnic revellers in large numbers. It is expected that the outsiders too would be able to take part in the Bhairabkunda Tourism Festival.
