IMPHAL, March 4 - Vehicular movement along Imphal-Jiribam sector of National Highway 37 was disturbed on Sunday due to collapse of an old bridge in Tamenglong district. NH 37 connects Manipur with the rest of the country via Silchar in south Assam.
The bridge, located at Nungdolan, about 150 km from here, under Tousem police station, collapsed when a 10-wheel rice laden truck was passing through it at around 9 am, police said.
The driver of the truck and the handyman sustained injuries in the accident and have been evacuated to a health Centre at Nungba.
