Brahmaputra water level

By STAFF CORRESPONDENT

DIBRUGARH, June 24 Incessant rains in the region have caused the mighty Brahmaputra river to surge, even as the water level in the gauging stations at Pasighat and Dholla showed a rising trend while the water level here was hovering close to the danger level at 3 pm on Saturday.

According to Central Water Commission (CWC) sources, the water level in Dibrugarh, however, was seen in a falling trend and the tributaries in Margherita, Khowang and Naharkatia were flowing in the rising trend.

Meanwhile, rain continued to lash the region since the past few days, causing waterlogging in different areas within the municipal area here. Rainwater has also seeped into the living rooms, commercial establishments, educational institutions, government offices besides submerging lanes and roads in the city.
