GUWAHATI, Aug 8 - Minister for Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes Chandan Brahma met Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Brahma requested Oram to sanction a Tribal University in the State for imparting holistic quality education to the tribal students.He also urged the Centre to notify the Bodo people residing in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao as ST (Hills) in terms of Clause 8 of BTC accord.
Brahma asked the Union Minister to pave the way for faster fund flow to the State for the benefit of the tribal population.
The meeting was also attended by DR M Angamuthu, Commissioner and Secretary (Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes).
