State Assembly election

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 19: Former chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council and BPF supremo Hagrama Mohilary has said that his party will contest in all the 12 Assembly constituencies under the BTC area in the Assembly elections.

He also revealed that the BPF will not nominate any candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat, saying that BJP will win anyway and there is no one to fight against it. Mohilary also informed that discussions are going on with Raijor Dal, Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and other like-minded regional parties and the outcome will be revealed soon.

At the same time, he alleged before the media that BPF members have been facing serious problems in their political life as they are being targeted every now and then resulting in humiliation and undue threat from the administration. He said that the police authorities are not registering FIRs and complaints lodged by BPF members with the police. The government at Dispur is also not taking steps to redress the grievances of the BPF members, he alleged. In certain incidents, important documents belonging to BPF members, like land documents, PAN cards, voter identity cards, etc, have been seized by the police without citing any justifiable reason, he further alleged.

It may be mentioned here that as many as 45 leaders and members from various parties joined the BPF at a function held at Tiniali here yesterday.
