KOKRAJHAR, Dec 16 BPF supremo and BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, along with other party workers, today took out a peaceful protest rally against the ongoing extortion drive by NDFB anti-talk faction and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar.

The rally that started from the BFP head office was attended by Promila Rani Brahma, MLA, Derhasat Basumatary, general secretary of BPF district committee and EM of BTC, amidst a large number of supporters. They shouted slogans, exhibited placards and banners in protest against extortion, kidnapping and killing etc, and demanded stern action against the anti-social elements in Kokrajhar.

In the memorandum, the BPF stated that the recent illegal activities have terrorised the people and some groups opposed to the development in the area have become jealous and they are trying to destabilise peace and normalcy with an ulterior motive.

Later, talking to mediapersons Mohilary said that NDFB has been creating trouble in this area and terrorising the people. Echoing the same sentiment Smt Brahma said that NDFB is committing crimes like theft and robbery like criminals in the name of sacrifice for the Bodo society, which she said is most unfortunate. Both the leaders urged the State Government to initiate proper action in this regard.

Meanwhile, AP Rawat, State ADGP (Law and Order) today visited Kokrajhar to take stock of the latest security situation here. He also held closed-door meetings with the high-level officials at Kokrajhar Circuit House.
