GUWAHATI, Aug 4 - An autobiography of former Advocate General of Meghalaya Dr BP Todi, titled Roses and Thorns My Journey Through Challenges, was released by former Meghalaya Governor RS Mooshahary here today.
The book provides an insight into the personal and professional life of Dr Todi and the challenges that he weathered to be what he is today.
Dr Todis book chronicles his journey from a humble background to becoming one of the names to reckon with in the legal profession. He also has many books on tax laws to his credit.
Releasing the book, Mooshahary, also a former Director General of the National Security Guards, said that Todis forte lies in his deep and insightful thinking on the subject of law.
I had the opportunity to work with him in Meghalaya where he contributed immensely, said Mooshahary. He specifically lauded the authors role in improving tax collection in Meghalaya during the latters stint as Advocate General.
Chief Information Commissioner HS Das, who was also present at the book release function, said, I am sure that Dr Todis book would give insights into his experiences which would be beneficial not only to the aspiring or young lawyers, but to society as a whole.
His professional integrity is very commendable. Moreover, I feel that as a lawyer one gets a relatively better idea of the issues grappling the society and the inherent causes. I hope that the book would reflect many such facets of his life, Das said.
Earlier, in his opening remarks, Dr Todi said, My book is not an out-an-out autobiography as such. It is more about how I waded through all odds without being disheartened or bogged down. Nowadays, the youngsters want to achieve everything so fast. And there is also a disturbing tendency among the young and aspiring professionals of getting disheartened even quicker. My book is about the ups and downs that one needs to encounter in order to achieve his or her goal in life.
BD Agarwall, former judge, Gauhati High Court, senior lawyer HRA Choudhury and Advocate General of Assam RC Borpatra Gohain also attended the function among others.
