Bongaigaon Refinery modernisation under way

BONGAIGAON, Dec 16 - Bongaigaon Refinery (BGR), located at Dhaligaon in Chirang district, is upgrading itself to fulfil the norms as per �Hydrocarbon Vision 2030� unveiled by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan in February last.

Construction works of Indian Maximisation unit (INDMAX) and renovation of exixting units to comply with BS-VI norms are under progress in BGR.

Both the new projects have opened employment prospects for skilled and unskilled labourers of the locality, besides enhancing the refining and production capacity of this petroleum industry.

The INDMAX project will address the short supply of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Lower Assam districts and would also increase the production of naptha and light diesel oil (LDO) in BGR, informed Chief General Manager in-charge GC Sikdar while interacting with mediapersons on Friday at Manas Guest House in the refinery township.

Sikdar also presented a list of philanthropic works done by the BGR in villages around it and informed the media about the anti-pollution measures adopted by them.

Besides Sikdar, the other officials of BGR present in the interactive session were A Kalita, Chief General Manager (TS & HSE), Kailash Pati (Chief General Manager�P), MD Sarma, General Manager (HR) and NJ Das, Deputy General Manager (HR) respectively.
