IMPHAL, Oct 13 � Assam Rifles troops and Manipur Police bomb disposal team deffused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Ushoipokpi in Thoubal district around 9 am today.
A road opening party of the Assam Rifles reportedly identified the IED placed near the Ushoipokpi bridge, about 20 km south of Imphal along the Indo-Myanmar road, Assam Rifles sources said.
The bomb squad was called and it was found that the IED was housed in an aluminum container having 2.5 kg of RDX. Later, the bomb was detonated at a nearby hilltop.
