JALUKBARI, Nov 18 - Jorge Cardenas Robles, Ambassador of Bolivia visited the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati today. During his visit, he had an interaction with citizen representatives, entrepreneurs, faculties, employees, students and mediapersons.

This is the first visit by any diplomat from Bolivia to this part of the country. His visit was to explore best learning practices and look for possibilities of cooperation between Bolivia and the northeastern region of India. He highlighted that sectors like mining, gas, contract farming are some of the areas where Bolivia can be a partner of India.

Robles maintained that India and Bolivia enjoy a friendly and cordial relationship and are moving in the path of growing cooperation in the changing economic development scenario. Bolivia and India can do a lot in the tourism sector, he said, adding that Bolivia is a home for 1,400 species of birds, which no nation in the world enjoys.

He further added that these two great nations have great cultures, irrespective of different languages. He also talked about spirituality, which is a binding force between the two nations. He talked about corruption in both the nations, which needs to be addressed and checked. He said that football and music, which both the nations celebrate can reduce the distance between the two nations.

Bolivia has one-third of Indias landmass, but its population is only 10 million. It has a huge water resource. However, it is landlocked like the Northeast India due to severance of its access to sea by Chile during a war.

Manoj K Das, Director of IIE, made a presentation on the advantages the northeastern states enjoy, along with the activities of the IIE.
