GUWAHATI, Oct 1 - The arrest of Boko legislator Gopinath Das, who is facing rape charge, appears imminent with the Gauhati High Court today rejecting his pre-arrest bail application. Das has been booked for raping his 14-year-old domestic help and is absconding since the last 20 days or so.
The matter has come up before the bench of Justice CR Sarma, who presided over the criminal bench. The rejection order came after perusal of the case diary wherein there were believed to be ample materials against the AIUDF MLA under Sec 4/8 of POSCO Act 2012.
Another case was registered under Section 447/506/355/384/420/120B of the Indian Penal Code, for filing of an affidavit by the victim girl�s parents allegedly forced by Das.
In the second case in question, applications for pre-arrest bail by the wife and son of Gopinath Das was granted by the same bench. The bench of Justice CR Sarma has granted them interim pre-arrest bail till October 15 and the case diary has also been sought on that date.
