Bohagi Adarani at Kumarpara from today

GUWAHATI, April 6 � The Jatiya Divas Udjapan Mancha of Kumarpara is celebrating the Bohagi Adarani festival at the Kumarpara Panchali with a two-day programme from tomorrow.

Senior journalist and editor of the Asamiya Pratidin Haider Hussain will hoist the Bihu flag of the Mancha at 10 am tomorrow to mark the beginning of the celebration. Noted artiste Sudakshina Sarma will inaugurate the cultural programme of the festival in the evening. The inaugural function will also be attended by noted artiste Dr Anima Choudhury as a distinguished guest.

The second cultural programmes of the festival will be inaugurated by noted actress Jerifa Wahid.

The artistes who will be performing in the festival include Anup Jyoti Choudhury, Dr Anjan Jyoti Choudhury, Mousumi Saharia, Janam Raj, Dipjyoti and Ankur Barthakur, Raju Anchari, the Bihu troupe of Ranjit Gogoi, the comedian troupe Chupati 365, Assam Bamboo Band, besides the budding artistes of Greater Kumarpara area.

The Jatiya Divas Udjapan Mancha, Kumarpara has been celebrating Republic Day and Independence Day since the Republic Day of 2005 following the Dhemaji bomb blast in a bid to take the bull of terrorism by the horn. Hundreds of school students have been taking part in the Republic Day and Independence Day programmes of the Mancha to register their opposition to terrorism.
