Body of ULFA (I) ultra found

TINSUKIA, Sept 28 - The body of an activist of United Liberation Front of Assam, Independent (ULFA-I) was found floating in Army fatigue in Buridihing river at Tekeri Gaon under Pengeree PS on Thursday evening.

The body is suspected to be of dreaded militant Jaan Asom of the banned outfit. It may be mentioned here that the Army had claimed injuries to two militants in the exchange of fire that took place on the night of September 24 last in a reserve forest near Jagun between a group of militants and the security forces.

Police have recovered one grenade, 73 rounds of live cartridges, walkie-talkie, battery, Rs 2900/- in cash, some medicines etc., from the Army jacket worn by the militant. Police have sent the body for post-mortem. Investigation is on and details are awaited.
