DIBRUGARH, Aug 28 - The surroundings of Dibrugarh Railway Station in Banipur here has turned out to be a hotbed of anti-social activities. Several murders, rape and robbery cases have come to light in the area ever since services commenced from the new station in 2009.
After the recovery of a body of a middle-aged woman from one of the bogies of the Dibrugarh-Guwahati Special train on Saturday, another body of a 20-year-old boy was recovered from a pond near the railway station. The deceased has been identified as Basu Debnath of Naliapool.
The cycle of the boy was also recovered from the area. Police has begun investigation into the death of the boy.
It may be mentioned here that the railway station is located in an isolated area at Banipur with no proper approach roads and street lights. Occasional cases of crime such as murder, rape and robbery therefore continue unabated.
