RANGIYA, Aug 22 � �Since the dawn of independence and even after various movements that hit the State, our unity had never disturbed and we have been leading a peaceful life without any feeling of racial discrimination between the people of Udiana and Bhatkuchi and its neighbouring area people comprising both Muslims and the Bodos,� said a senior peaceloving citizen Harish Ch Boro of Bhatkuchi area adding that local unity was only disturbed due to instigation by some anti-social elements due to the spread of rumours of racial sentiment.
Boro further said the recent scene of violence was an unfortunate incident and was instigated by outside forces to disturb our unity attempting to transform even a small law-and-order related issue occurring at another place into a communal issue leading the innocent people to feel insecure. � Such incidents are a threat to national harmony which we and all including our policy makers, administration should consider with serious concern�, the octogenarian added expressing that the Bodos and Muslims were always united.
Another youth, Dharmendra Boro of the same village said although there was a feeling among outsiders that communal sentiments were were e ruling the area between Udiana and Bhatkuchi, Goriakoth and Kekohati village, but in reality we are still moving, and sharing our thoughts as earlier. � I view the whole incident as an outcome of rumours which were induced in the minds of the peace loving people here as the protest was for a driver and his Nano vehicle related case many kilometers away from here�, he added exerting that we would not allow any bad elements and their ill-gotten ideas to creep into our united minds. Another youth and an ABSU office bearer Himen Boro said that role of the media should be very unbiased and it should present the facts only in the absence of which, sometimes a large section of people get misled. He added further that the administration should not undermine such an incident as a mere community related clash but institute a probe to book the real elements behind the scene, Boro added. A little further near the Bodo village, people from both Udiana and nearby villages were fishing like nothing had happened just days ago, revealing the fact that people were always united at the ground level.
Akbar Ali, a senior citizen of Udiana and few others of the village reiterated the same thing and said they were always united and would not let outside forces to disturb their unity and fraternity. �Why should people fall prey to some baseless racial propaganda disturbing our unity�, they asked in unison and urged the administration also to provide security to the innocents.
