Bodies of abducted teachers found

GOALPARA, June 30 � Two badly decomposed bodies of kidnapped teachers Charit Rabha and Kameswar Rabha were found in the early hours today at Kasumari village by the side of Moina Moti Pahar near Paikan along the Assam Meghalaya border under Krishnai police station following a joint search operation conducted by the army and the police.

Senior officials immediately rushed to the spot to retrieve the bodies while the inquest was performed at Goalpara Civil Hospital bodies and later on the bodies were handed over to their respective families by the district administration.

It may be mentioned here that the duo , Kameshwar Rabha, headmaster, Belpara LP School, and Charit Rabha, honorary teacher,Gendabari LP School was kidnapped by miscreants backed by GNLA militants from Mongrain a border village under Agia police station.

�We are doing everything possible from our end to nab the culprits and already five persons involved in the incident have been arrested by the police,� said Preetom Saikia , Deputy Commisioner. He also appealed for maintaining peace and harmony in the respective areas following recovery of the bodies , in an emergency meeting held at the DC�s chamber attended by senior army officials, SP, police officials from Resul Belpara, East Garo Hills district, Meghalaya and leaders representing Rabha, Garo Hajong and Bodo communities.
