Blood donation camp held at Jorabat

By Correspondent

JORABAT, April 27 - A blood donation camp was held today at Jorabat, in which many people voluntarily donated their blood for needy patients.

The blood donation camp, held on the premises of Jorabat Shri Shri Bhadrakaleswari Mandir, was organised by the Jorabat Unnayan Samiti. Medical and technical help for the blood donation camp was provided by the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Over fifty people from the neighbourhood donated blood, informed Tarsem Singh, working president of the Jorabat Unnayan Samiti. He added that a blood donation camp is organised every year by the Jorabat Unnayan Samiti and many people proactively take part in it. He further informed that while every year the camp is organised on March 23 on the occasion of Swahid Divas, this year it was postponed due to the Assam Assembly elections.

It may be mentioned that the GMCH provides free blood to the kith and kin and friends of the blood donors when they face an emergency situation at the hospital.
