GUWAHATI, June 9 - The Cotton College Women�s Forum (CCWF) observed �black day� on June 7 in protest against rising cases of crime against women. Around 70 people gathered in front of Dr Surya Kumar Bhuyan (SKB) Library and registered their protest.

The forum also demanded introduction of a 24X7 helpline for women, SOS service in mobile handsets and self-defence training programmes in school curriculum, a press release stated.

The forum will submit a memorandum to the Assam State Commission for Women and the National Commission for Women seeking effective measures to ensure the safety of women in the region.
