GUWAHATI, June 10 - The Congress today alleged that the BJP-led State government has launched an Iftar campaign on the occasion of the Ramzan with funds meant for minority development.

The government has spent around Rs 24 lakh for newspaper advertisements, which is a waste of public money, Congress spokesman Imdad Hussain said.

Though the Congress welcomed the Iftar programme organised by the government at Burha Jame Masjid, it said that instead of announcing new schemes for the development of minorities, the new government has curtailed funds to the existing schemes launched by the previous Congress government. The minorities are crestfallen under the present government, Hussain said.
