BJP wins no confidence move at civic board

By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, Sept 6 - In an interesting twist over the political field at the Karimganj Municipal Board, Bharatiya Janata Party edged past Congress in the No Confidence Move brought against Partha Pratim Das, the vice chairman of the Congress-led board on Thursday.

Out of the 27 seats, BJP got 15 seats, while the Congress managed 10 seats with two of its commissioners remaining mysteriously absent.

Interestingly, before the session, Sikha Sutradhar of Congress who was the chairperson of the board stepped down from the post.

Later, the BJP commissioners approached Deputy Commissioner Pradip Kumar Talukdar to seek permission to form the next civic board.

Meanwhile, Subrata Bhattacharjee, president of Karimganj district BJP said, This is a massive moment when we saw the end of the Congress misrule. People of the border town shall now witness a fresh pace of development which was stalled. Also, this victory is a stepping stone for the ensuing 2019 Lok Sabha election.
