'BJP will provide graft-free Govt in TAC'

By Correspondent

MORIGAON, Aug 9 - Union Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the BJP will provide a corruption-free, effective Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC), if it is voted to power.

Addressing a massive public meeting organised by the party workers at Morigaon on Saturday, Sonowal said that BJP is the only party which will ensure the rights of all the ethnic groups of Assam. Sonowal said that Tiwa Council elections is the precursor of defeat for the Congress in the Assembly polls of Assam slated to be held in 2016.

Sonowal further said that the Assam Government was involved in deep-rooted corruption in all developmental schemes and the Tarun Gogoi-led Government has not submitted utilisation certificates of all central development schemes. So there was fund curtailment by the Central Government to Assam, Sonowal added.

The Minister alleged that nearly Rs 150 crore was sanctioned to the Tiwa Autonomous Council in the last five years. But the Congress-ruled Tiwa Council was involved in deep- rooted corruption, and did not carry out development works.
