BJP welcomes Maraks resignation

By Correspondent

TURA, June 6 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today welcomed the decision of the North Garo Hills district president, Bacheng Ch Marak to resign from his post and said that disciplinary action would be taken against the former party leader for his controversial post on social media.

Marak, who quit yesterday from the BJP after submitting his resignation to State president Shibun Lynghdoh hit out at the BJP for what he termed as divisive politics.

He was instrumental in expansion of the party activities over the past two years .

His exit from the party has forced the party functionaries of the district to call for an emergent meeting to chalk out a roadmap ahead of upcoming Meghalaya Assembly election in 2018.

It was a difficult decision to make but I cannot compromise on the sentiments of Garos. As a Garo, it is my responsibility to protect the interests of my community. Beef eating is part of our culture and tradition. The BJPs non-secular ideology to impose on us is not acceptable, said the leader on his quitting the party.
