BJP to fight it alone in panchayat elections

BAIHATA CHARIALI, Aug 25 - With the aim to fight alone in the forthcoming panchayat elections in the State, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been strengthening party activities by organising meetings at district level.

On August 20, the Guwahati (Metro) district committee of BJP organised an executive meeting at Baihata Chariali, where the MPs of Mangaldai and Guwahati Lok Sabha constituencies, Ramen Deka and Bijoya Chakraborty respectively and MLA of Rangiya LAC Bhabesh Kalita called upon the party activists to work for the benefit of the general people and to strengthen organisational activities of the party at the grassroot level. The meeting was presided over by Bichitra Kalita and during the interaction with mediapersons, he said that the party has decided to fight it alone in the panchayat elections. Mrigen Saraniya, Mayor of GMC, BJP leader Madan Chandra Deka, Anil Deka, Bhaskar Kalita and a number of other BJP activists attended the meeting.

At another meeting of the North Kamrup district committee of BJP held at Kamalpur under the presidentship of Ramesh Deka, Suman Haripriya, MLA of Hajo LAC, Bhabesh Kalita, MLA of Rangiya LAC and Ramen Deka, MP of Mangaldai Lok Sabha Costituency urged the BJP workers to observe the developmental works under different schemes of the government so that the benefits of those schemes reaches the actual beneficiaries. In the meeting, the welcome address was delivered by Rajib Lochan Sarma, president of Kamalpur Mandal BJP Committee and Bimal Oswal, State vice-president of the BJP graced the occasion as the distinguished guest.

National seminars: Three national seminars sponsored by the UGC will be held at Pub Kamrup College, Baihata Chariali from September 11. This was disclosed by the College authority in a press note.

On September 11 and 12 , the Department of Chemistry in collaboration with institutional level Biotech Hub, Pub Kamrup College is organising a national seminar on the theme, � Harmony with nature in context of Chemistry, environmental issues and challenges�.

The second one will be held on September 13 and 14 under the aegis of the Department of Education in collaboration with the IQAC, Pub Kamrup College on the theme, �Innovative practices in teaching, learning and evaluation in higher education�.

The third one will be held on September 15 and 16 under the joint aegis of Institutional level Biotech Hub and the department of food processing and quality management on the theme, � Food and bio-process research for industrial application�.

The seminar organising committee of the college has appealed to the academicians, researchers and students to send their abstract and papers on the theme and sub-themes accordingly. For further details they can visit the college website www.pubkamrupcollege.co.in
