BJP to contest all 126 seats in ensuing polls

By Correspondent

BARPETA Oct 30 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has resolved to field candidates in all the 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam during the forthcoming election. It is confident of forming the next Government.

The above was disclosed by the president of the State unit, Siddhartha Bhattacharya here on Thursday.

Addressing mediapersons at a meeting of party workers, Bhattacharya severely criticised the present State Government led by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and expressed the hope that the people will repose faith on the BJP in the interest of transparency and good governance.

Stating that the proposed alliance between the ruling Congress and the AIUDF will be very harmful for the State, he said it is going to happen only due to senility and memory loss of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, besides the weak leadership of APCC president Anjan Dutta.

Regarding the new entrants from other political parties into the BJP, Bhattacharya said that the BJP does not believe in VIP politics and hence everyone, irrespective of their designation in the former party, will be viewed at par with the existing party workers.

The deputy chief convenor of Asom Sena, Hemanta Deury along with a large number of supporters entered the saffron fold in the presence of Bhattacharya. The MLA of Sarbhog constituency, Ranjit Das and other leaders of the district were also present in the meeting of the party workers.
