DERGAON, Feb 12 Continuing the Modi juggernaut, the BJP today scored a landslide victory in the Dergaon Municipal Board (DMB) elections by winning 8 of the 10 Wards, leaving the outgoing Congress with only 1 Ward and completely decimating the AGP, which drew a blank.

The BJP candidates won the eight seats from Ward No. 1 to 8 and left Ward No. 9 for Independent and Ward No. 10 for the Congress. The winning cadidates for BJP are Sneholata Nath (353), Rita Nath (486), Arunabh Kalita (791), Rita Nath (752), Madhumita Bora (402), Pradumnya Bhatta (327), Sushil Baldowa (206) and Maina Dutta (695), Jatin Bora (325, Independent) and Sital Somani (199, Congress) were the other winners.

In the elections, Pradumnya Bhatta (327) of BJP defeated his rival, ex-vice chairman Tukumoni Kachari (299) of the Congress.

Though according to BJP leader Bedanta Bora the name of the new chairman of the Board will be finalised by the elected members of the party, common people are all supporting Pradumnya Bhatta (Sankar), who was elected from Ward No. 6.
