GUWAHATI, Oct 20 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today appealed to everybody to sink all differences and work together to check all the evil and communal forces which pose a serious threat to the secular fabric of India, said an official press release.

Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Chief Minister alleged that the saffron party is spreading a hate campaign and expressed concern over the prevailing situation in the country. The situation has compelled President Pranab Mukherjee to intervene on two occasions within a short span of time, he said.

The Chief Minister stated that in todays society, intolerance has grown manifold and it has come to such a pass that the unity and integrity of the nation has been disturbed.

Gogoi said, The 5000-year-old Indian civilisation has always put diversity, pluralism and religious tolerance on the top. However, the sequel of events taking place at the moment has disturbed Indian culture, traditions and customs.

The Presidents timely intervention twice within a short span of time to douse the flames of communal tension indicates the severity of the situation, he said. President Pranab Mukherjees clear-cut message to the Government of India is an unequivocal reflection that the BJP-led NDA Government instead of checking intolerance is spreading the hate campaign, which has vitiated the social fabric and communal harmony of the country, the Chief Minister said.
