SHILLONG, Feb 14 The BJP today questioned the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU) authorities why the campus was turned into a "recruiting rally of the Congress party" in the guise of an interaction session of Rahul Gandhi with students.
BJP said National Students Union of India (Congress student wing) members were distributing forms to the students and the interaction was a sham to recruit students from the University into the party.
Why should university authorities provide Rahul a political platform in the University to indulge in such recruitment drive for the Congress Student wing? BJP Spokesman Dipayan Chakraborty asked.
He added that NEHU authorities must be made answerable to such biasness that has sullied the sanctity of the place of learning.
NEHU mustnt be misused by any political party. Its a central University meant to further knowledge and cannot be a political playground for any party, he added.
Meanwhile, NEHU authorities have brushed their hands off the controversy. They say that the University was unaware of the nature of interaction of the Congress leader with the students.
