BJP slams CM for derogatory remark

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 29: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh on Tuesday condemned Chief Minister Tarun Gogois remarks against the BJP and slammed the Assam Police for allegedly acting in a partisan manner.

Taking strong note of Tarun Gogoi calling the BJP a party of murderers today at a press conference, Santanu Bharali of the State BJP said that the Congress is trying to gain political mileage out of the Rajiv Bhawan incident yesterday.

Bharali also condemned the police action against the BJP members and said that the police was acting as Congress agents. It is unfortunate that the Assam Police is not acting in a neutral manner. Today the police searched our office and arrested some of our leaders, which we condemn in strong words, said Bharali, regretting that the police have till date not acted on the complaint filed by the BJP against some of the Congress members.

Bharali said not a single Congress man who pelted stones and wielded lathis and attacked peaceful BJP protesters have been arrested by the police. This simply proves that the Assam police dances to the tune of the Congress, said Bharali adding that a partisan police force will do no good to the state.

It needs to be mentioned that the BJP is going to stage hunger strike tomorrow in all the districts as a mark of protest against the arrest of its leaders.
